Join thousands of postdocs across the nation by signing the letter to the NIH!
Despite the many sources of stress that come with living in NYC, postdocs throughout the city have seen how major gains are possible through unionizing and collective bargaining. To further this effort at the national level, we are working with our postdoctoral colleagues from across the country to tell the NIH to provide more support for researchers.
The NIH is considering major changes to postdoc positions, like instituting a 5-year term limit and reducing eligibility windows for grants. In order to make sure that postdocs have a voice in these changes, researchers across the country are responding to these proposed changes and signing an open letter to the Director of the NIH demanding more funding for research and a stable career path for postdocs, as well as expanding the right to bargain collectively.
The more postdocs who sign the national letter, the more strongly we can urge the NIH to commit to make academic careers more sustainable, equitable, and accessible. By coming together as a broader movement of postdoctoral researchers across the scientific research pipeline, we have the power to win the changes necessary to ensure that anyone who wants to conduct research can do so with dignity and fair working conditions.
