NOTICE OF NOMINATION AND VACANCY ELECTION FOR THE ERU-UAW BARGAINING COMMITTEE

Nominations are hereby declared open for the Einstein Researchers United-UAW (ERU-UAW) Bargaining Committee (three [3] total positions; two [2] Bargaining Committee members and one [1] Alternate member): All eligible ERU-UAW supporters [all Einstein Postdoctoral Fellows who are currently employed by the College and have filled out an ERU-UAW authorization card or bargaining survey] are automatically nominated for the ERU-UAW Bargaining Committee.

There are two (2) vacant positions on the Bargaining Committee (BC). One [1] new Alternate member position has also been created, and will be filled via election. The duties and eligibility requirements of the Alternate member are the same as those of the other BC members. In the case that a BC member position becomes vacant, the Alternate would join the BC as a regular member and the Alternate position would become vacant instead.

Any eligible ERU-UAW supporter who wishes to accept the nomination for one of the vacant Bargaining Committee positions listed above must indicate their intention in writing by email to elections@einsteinpostdocunion.org by inclusion in the body of the email, by electronic scan (pdf), or by photograph attachment, or by hand delivery of a signed acceptance of the nomination to ERU-UAW Elections, 350 W 31st Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10016Nominees must specify whether they wish to run for one of the two [2] vacant BC Member positions or for the one [1] Alternate position.

Acceptances must be submitted no later than 5 PM on Friday, March 6th, 2026.

Candidate statements:

Each candidate may write and submit a candidate statement of no more than 250 words. These statements will be posted on the ERU-UAW website if there are elections. Address, phone number, and email address must be included, but will not be counted toward the 250 words.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to submit the candidate’s statement. All candidate statements must be received by the time nominations close at 5 PM on Friday, March 6th, 2026.

Election Dates, Times, and Locations:

In the event that the number of eligible candidates who accept nomination to one of the member positions does not exceed two [2], such candidates will be deemed elected by acclamation, and no election for those positions will be held. In the event that the number of eligible candidates who accept nomination to the Alternate member position does not exceed one [1], such candidate will be deemed elected by acclamation, and no election for that position will be held. 

If the election for the BC member positions is contested, an election will be conducted, with the two (2) candidates who receive the highest number of votes being elected. If the election for the Alternate member position is contested, an election will be conducted, with the one (1) candidate who receives the highest number of votes being elected. 

All eligible ERU-UAW supporters [all Einstein Postdoctoral Fellows who are currently employed by the College and have filled out an ERU-UAW authorization card or bargaining survey] are eligible to vote. Members of the bargaining unit who have not done so may fill out an authorization card or bargaining survey prior to voting.

In the event that either or both races are contested, the election(s) will take place electronically on Friday, March 13th, 2026, from 9 AM to 9 PM.

A run-off election, if necessary, will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2026, from 9 AM to 9 PM.

Voters shall be entitled to vote for a total of two [2] candidates for the BC member positions, and one [1] candidate for the alternate position.
