This month, the Trump administration has begun an attack on public research to further their extreme, right-wing agenda: freezing federal grants, undermining university budgets, censoring research on public health and climate change, and targeting workers at the NIH, CDC, NSF, and FDA.On Friday, the NIH announced that it would be drastically lowering its indirect cost rate, a reckless disinvestment from public research and higher education that would disrupt scientific innovation and economic growth.
Academic workers are organizing to oppose Trump’s attacks on science and education. Last week, hundreds of academic workers across the nation came together to call on representatives to ensure critical scientific research continues to be funded. We continue this fight with these two upcoming events:

On Monday, February 10 at 6pm PT/9pm ET, join academic workers for a webinar to learn more on science funding, the NIH indirect cost rate, and the threats to research from the Trump administration.

On Wednesday, February 19, academic workers from across the country are holding a National Day of Action to put pressure on our elected representatives to oppose Trump’s attacks on higher education. Stay tuned for more information on how to participate locally!
