RSVP for our next bargaining session on Thursday, February 5th!

Our first bargaining session of this year will be held on Feb 5th from 1PM-5PM in person. All postdocs are welcome and encouraged to observe our elected Bargaining Committee (BC) negotiate with the administration, even if you are only able to attend for part of the session. The more of us who attend bargaining, the more we can show Einstein the urgency of reaching a fair contract! Please RSVP if you would like to attend so we can share logistical information ahead of the session.

At our last session, Einstein made proposals that fall far below rights and protections that are increasingly standard for many unionized postdocs, including on Intellectual Property, Appointments and Reappointments, and Prohibition Against Discrimination and Harassment, and Housing. They also went backwards on a number of important provisions, trying to revert months of progress. You can stay up to date on bargaining and read summaries of the proposals on our online bargaining tracker.

In light of this unconstructive approach being taken by Einstein at the table, it is even more important that we show our strength by attending these sessions as observers, so we can communicate to Einstein that we will not let them weaken our rights relative to other unionized postdocs, or unnecessarily delaying the process. The greater strength we show, the more progress we can make towards a fair contract for all Einstein postdocs!

Fighting back against NIH restrictions: Given the recent unprecedented attacks on the NIH we are also organizing a phone bank together with other UAW postdocs across the country – tomorrow (Thursday), January 30th at 3:00PM – to demand representatives to lift these restrictions. If you want to join the phonebank, RSVP here.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or respond to this email and we can connect you with an organizer in your area.
